One of the things I like the best about living in Hot Springs Village is the little surprises you encounter when exploring in and around the area.  One of the best I have found is Village Hibachi on Hwy 7 in the same shopping center as Sonic.

I have to tell you that I was initially very skeptical.  I am quite a sushi fan from my days living in Portland, Oregon and am aware of the effects of varying degrees of freshness and quality can have on your dining experience, but decided to give Village Hibachi a try, anyway.

I have to tell you that I never regretted that decision.

To try it out I ordered the ‘Sushi Regular’ (6 Nigri with a California Roll) upgraded for an additional cost with a ‘Rainbow Roll’ which is basically a California Roll with assorted fish on top and found my new all-time favorite.  I don’t know how they do it, but the ingredients taste fresh even this far from the ocean, and the sushi chef puts it all together with an expertise I can only say ranks right up there with the best I have ever tried.

Now, I understand that for many of you sushi is not your favorite and, as you might guess by the name, they also have a full grill selection including steak, chicken, shrimp, tuna and vegetables in various combinations.  I can’t speak to those, however, because having tasted the best, hands down, sushi I have experienced since leaving Portland (and even better than some I had there) I have no reason to venture anywhere else on the menu.

If you haven’t tried it I would suggest you get there as soon as possible.  They are located at 4656 N. Hwy 7 in Hot Springs Village and are open from 11:00 – 2:30 and then 4:00 – 9:00 Monday through Saturday.  For more information check out their Facebook page here.
